VERY DISAPPOINTED
If you are looking for a mat that will have a stable surface over a deep pile carpet, I highly suggest that you look somewhere else because after much time studying the catalog Staples offers, this was the best I could identify and it is inadequate.

Tough chair mat
Had a lower price, thinner mat that dented and cracked. So far this more rugged mat seems to correct those deficiencies. We will see . . .

Sturdy
I get a few slight impressions in the surface from my chair (I’m 200+ lbs), but they do not impede my chair's ability to roll anywhere on the mat.

I disagree with the buyers who have complaints
The mat’s the perfect size (for my office, at least), and enables me to roll about freely while protecting the carpet. I don’t know what else anyone would expect the mat to do. How well it stands the test of time only time will tell, but my initial impression is I have no issues and I’m pleased with my purchase.

One scratched by cleats of another
I ordered two of the 45x53 mats. When they arrived, one was excessively scratched by the cleats of the other. When the replacement came, it was curled up at the edges. Putting weights on the edges has mostly flattened them but not completely. Also, the mats are about 1/2 inches smaller than advertised. Perfect mat
Purchased mat for my elderly mother who is in her transport chair all day. The mat is on her living room carpet so she can easily go from living room to kitchen. Held it in place drilling screws with washers. Works great. She wore out the last chair mat.

Works fine. Was concerned if the thickness would be sufficient to support a rolling chair. It is a sturdy solid mat that works great for a rolling chair on a carpeted area. Would recommend and buy it again.

This mat is thick. Thankfully, it was delivered flat and works well on my carpet. The gray mesh back fabric task chair rolls easily on it.

I recently received a new chairmat for my office and I was surprised to see that it was delivered without cardboard around it. As a result there are lumps where the carrier handled it without support. In the past, they've always been in a cardboard support. Sorry to see that prices go up but quality goes down.

Our carpet is thick so it does leave an indentation but it recovers after we leave.
