Super easy
Set up was super easy. Settings can be changed to scan multiple pages and save as PDF so this has been wonderful for scanning work documents.

Not for pictures
I bought it to scan pictures at 600 dpi and the maximum it did was 300dpi and the quality was awful. So I returned it.

DS-640 portable scanner
The scan resolution is very good and I like the portability of the unit. The software could have more features, but the scanner itself is worth it.

I would definitely buy this scanner Brother again!
This Brother scanner is incredibly easy to use, while scanning a simple receipt or sheets of paper. The software is very easy to navigate! I am so thrilled with this scanner! It makes scanning so much easier now!

Not as Easy as I Thought
The scanner is fairly easy to use. The problems I have encountered is doing multiple scans at once. I cannot figure out how to do that. The other problem is finding where the scans are.

Not nearly as practical as an Epson
Quite disappointed in the scanner in comparison to an Epson DS-30 which I owned for 12 years. The DS-640 has to be reconnected to the computer each time I launch the scanning app. Additionally, the scanning app requires clicking through several screens to just save a scan. Way more cumbersome that the Epson Scan app. The only positive is that it scans quicker than the E...

Doesn't allow for continuous doc feed
I have various Brother printers and am very satisfied with those. However, this scanner doesn't scan at the quality that one would expect, and it doesn't allow for continuous document feed, which is why I bought it. I have a Fujitsu scanner that just now, after 10 years of heavy use, is giving me some problems. I'm getting me a new Fujitsu portable scanner.

Just what I Needed
It makes scans of full documents relatively quickly. It is a considerable improvement on our old flatbed scanners, especially the one where each scan was a separate document. And it is inexpensive.
