Had to shake it to make the light turn on but it wouldn't detect the strip in any of the bills. Returned it.

I ordered two. Both you have to give it a little tap to get the light to come on. I believe it does this because there is too much room for the 3c batteries to move around and they aren’t connecting immediately. Other than that once on they work just as they should.

Wish I could give zero stars
I've gone through three of these things, they don't work. As soon as I plugged them in for the first time, or used batteries, I'd hear a pop, and then it would start smoking. I thought it was just a fluke at first, but this has happened with 3 separate machines. Terrible design, don't waste your money
