Very disappointed that most of the batteries were dead. Not the first time it has happened.

Great batteries!
I have used many brands of D batteries to drive a portable water pump. The Duracell Coppertop D Alkaline batteries last much longer than cheap brands. The cheap brands die very quickly, and end up being more expensive in the long run. Interestingly, the cheap brands are much lighter in weight. I therefore avoid lightweight brands.
