Definitely Works On Home Carpet
When working at the office, I had a less expensive (standard) chair mat. It worked great over the short pile carpet that is in many corp offices. Cracks
I would not recommend this product to anyone. I have had to replace mine twice in a year. The first one I purchased was low end quality so I upgraded to this one because it stated it DID not crack. Well I have a huge hole over the area I frequently sit and it cracked and is ripping away now. I am ordering another one but not this one.

Great Floor mat for carpet.
Solid floor mat. Stays put with my deep pile carpet (1/2in). Doesn't develop indentations from the wheels of my rolling chair. Just right for what I needed.

Compact Mat
I've had the mat for about a week and it is compact so it does not cover a huge area. My chair rolls easily on it and doesn't sink in. One issue is that it does not stay in position. I line it up with my desk but after a day or two it moves a couple of inches to the side.

still in one piece
Thinner than I thought it would be...rug grabbers on bottom are not long enough and it still walks over the carpet which I though was only 1/2" thick. Fortunately it's light weight enough that I can reposition every couple of days when I start rolling off of the edge cause it's sneaking away.

Need to adjust placement daily
I have a very short pile carpet in my home office. The mat travels- every day I need to get down on my knees to move it several inches back to where it started the day at. I'm an old guy, so the bending and stooping makes me quite unhappy. I may be able to upgrade the star award later, based on the durability of the product. Time will tell.

Doesn't Last, Cracks, & Now Lower Quality
While traditional vinyl mats sag badly on carpeted floors, this mat allows your home office chair to glide smoothly. It would be perfect if it only lasted more than a couple of years. For home office use, expect 3 to 4 years before it cracks and breaks apart. Less with higher piles or daily office use.

A fine product
This polycarbonate mat lays flat, neither curls nor moves and chair casters roll easily over its surface. It looks great and works exactly as intended. I couldn't be more pleased and would order again if the need arises.

Pad Movement
The mat will not stay in place on my Rug. The Spikes on bottom of pad are too short to get a good grip on my rug. I have to reposition the mad every 2 to 3 days.

Research paid off
In my opinion on any carpet the polycarbonate is the way to go. This is MUCH more solid than a more vinyl-like mat I had for a few years. I'm at my home office desk all day and no wheel dents at all so far. I'd say from top of carpet to wood subflooring is 1/2 to 5/8" so it's getting a good test for sure.
