Many paper brands measure paper brightness using one of two scales:

Environmentally friendly paper

FSC certified paper
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non profit organization devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the world's forests. FSC sets very high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable way.

Recycled paper

Recycled paper myths:
Myth: Recycled copy paper is poor quality.
Fact: Technology today makes it possible to create high-quality, high-performance recycled copy papers.

Myth: Recycled copy paper is less expensive than copy paper with no recycled materials.
Fact: Producing recycled copy paper is a complicated manufacturing process. Collecting and converting recycled materials makes it more expensive to produce. However, recycled paper comes at a much lower cost to the environment.
