The original bulb which I just replaced with this new one came with the desk lamp that I purchased from Staples about 3 years ago. I don't have the lamp on all the time but I use it quite frequently.I was surprised at how long the bulb lasted. the oly complaint that I have is that the bulb and the housing got pretty hot. You have to be careful not to touch the the lamp area when its on.

I bought a pair of desk lamps that required this bulb. However, it was terribly hot working under the light at my desk during the summer months, but I liked the lamps for their dimmer and simple design. About a year after, the bulb in one lamp popped. So, I bought a new light bulb. I replaced the bulb, but the new bulb didn't work in the lamp. So, I had to use the other lamp I bought for my other desk. Shortly, the 2nd lamp dimmer stopped working, but I could still use it. Recently, that lamp too stopped working. So...I went to pick up a new bulb--this bulb--not remembering that I already had a bulb that was not used in the first lamp. In neither lamp do the new bulbs work. Now the model lamp I like so well is sold with a different type bulb, and I'm stuck with 2 very expensive bulbs.

Used in a lamp that can control the level of light the halogen lamp lasts a long time and can be adjusted to just the right level for easy on the eyes reading.
