The laser lights sold for cats have those odd watch batteries that are hard to find and expensive. This laser pointer is so much easier to use, the batteries are cheaper and last so much longer!

We've tried many brands and types of lasers for our planetarium and at schools. These get hard use by many hands, and this brand lasts the longest. The on/off buttons are soft vinyl and literally wear out after about two years of daily use.
The battery life will vary by the battery type used. Rechargeable batteries have a natural charge down to extend their life, also the milliamps of the battery will vary the amount of time.
