Brother has a good ideas here for the private user who does not print large batches. Only replacing the emptys save me money. And that's a "Good Thing"!

My old HP printer cartridges - appearing to be smaller in size - actually lasted a long time. BROTHER printer uses the same gag as the Gellette Co. razor did; nearly give you the handle at no cost and charge for the blades over and over and over Printer is inexpensive for a sophisticated piece of equipment, but the inks will eat you out of house and home. You can also buy refills for HP, but the ink is "different" in a BROTHER so you're stuck.
Comments about Brother LC61MS Magenta Ink Cartridge:
This cartridge works well enough while it works, but it runs out of ink very quickly, and doesn't really seem to be totally out of ink when the machine demands a replacement (or things won't print).
