As a CPA I need a good calculator. The manufacturer apparently assumes that the user is an engineer. The documentation is seriously lacking Step-by-step instructions. I could not find a download of the instructions. It took about 30 minutes to set it up. There is a piece of tape under the cover that should be removed. The cover takes a lot of pressure to remove, and the paper is difficult to load and feed the first time.
It took a while to figure the date/time: 1. Depress time ”func/clock func” key 2. Depress and hold [time set] or = key 3. Enter date 4. Depress time ”func/clock func” key 5. Enter time 6. Depress [12/24] 7. Enter P or A by epressing [12/24] twice 8. Depress time ”func/clock func” key 9. To use calculator hit [CE/C]key
I recommend this calculator, although the Setup instructions seriously lacking

He stated that the current entry is not visible on the print tape until you hit the feed button twice. That is not the case, I just checked my bosses & it is like most adding machines, it appears as soon as you hit one of the function keys (+-/*). Strange. I am looking for one for my desk at work & that feature was important for me as well, as I often check what I just entered, but it doesn't appear to be an issue. It does rumble a bit, but every printing calculator that I have used has been a little noisy.
Purchased this model for my tax office because I liked the silver color; however I also liked all the capabilities of the unit. Fast action [3.7 lines] and full-size were big factors in decision to buy. I have owned prior Canon models and were happy with them as well. The reason I did not rate this all the way up is I had a spill onto the keyboard that I cannot repair. Other models I've owned I could use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to lift off the keys so I could clean inside, but this one does not allow that. So after only a few months use the "3" key sticks about 60% of the time. Now it's practically useless. Also, I just noticed on the website that there is a Staples brand model that appears to be nearly identical for a LOT less money [albeit a wee bit slower at only 2.4 lines].
