Purchased because I liked the long length. The cleats on the bottom are rounded so the mat does not nestle into carpet but rests more on top of the carpet. I just sat down one day (about 5 months after purchase) and a loud crack resulted in a 6" break. When I purchased this product the description was for medium pile carpet - which I have. Since my complaint to the manufacturer Staples has changed it's description. That's good.

To process a warranty claim the manufacturer (Floortex) required several pages of paperwork, photos, and a copy of the original purchase receipt. Then they said my carpet was too high for the mat. This of course they gleaned from the photos - go figure. Floortex offered to replace the 48 x 79 mat with a 48 x 60 mat which they claimed is what I should have for my carpet. I had to pay shipping, they did not offer to reimburse the difference in price between the two mats. The smaller mat was offered because they do not make a 48 - 79 chairmat that is right for my carpet. Unfortunately the replacement mat also has rounded cleats and it moves even more than the first one. Now I need to re-position the replacement mat two or three times a day - a real hassle. Oh - by the way. The manufacturers warranty is VOID if you place furniture on the mat.

Floortex Customer Service was responsive and pleasant. They just don't make chairmats that work on medium pile carpet.

I needed a mat large enough to cover the area between my computer desk, my desktop, and my file cabinet. This was just right.

I am using this product in my home office between my desk and file cabinets. Size is very importand to me so that I stay on the mat when rolling in chair from one to the other without going onto carpet. The thickness is adequate so that there are no indentations from weight of the chair and it rolls very smoothly. The price was more than I wanted to pay, but the size was more important. I have no regrets.

Smaller widths would be nice. The length is good, but the width was larger than I anticipated.
