I bought this and a black cartridge on the same day. The black had an install by of April 2012. This had an insatll by of March 2010. It expires & stops workin...Read complete review

I bought this and a black cartridge on the same day. The black had an install by of April 2012. This had an insatll by of March 2010. It expires & stops working 30 months later. I use the printer infrequently and the cartridge will certainly expire before it gets half empty. Bummer. I'm surprised HP stays in business with this type of rip-off.

Judging from the pricing, this is where HP makes their money, as I see these cartridges for the same price everywhere. HP must have a price lock in place.

What a shame that HP doesn't give its customers a break by reducing the price of these cartridges. I've never considered another brand of printer, but once my HP2800 Business Inkjet is another year old, I'll replace it with a brand that has less expensive ink. Too bad, because I love HP products. HP, are you listening?

For some reason, the #11 magenta cartridges for my two business inkjets (2200, 2230) are giving extremely short useable periods. Why only the Magenta in both printers? The cartridges are nearly full (you can shake and feel the ink still inside), the printhead life reports show 90% life remaining, and the dates on the ink cartridges are to August, 2013. These are purchased thru Staples and have the "genuine HP" holographic stickers on the side. And the costs are incredibly high for HP ink. I was able to get one replaced by HP, but they want proof of purchase receipt and other details, besides arguing with different "support" personnel for hours. I have already purchased a Brother laser printer because of this, and their costly ink, and will avoid HP for other products as well, as they seem to be providing unreliable and uneconomical devices (I have had problems with the hard drive system that they put in my expensive 2008 desktop computer from HP as well). Too bad, HP used to be a respected company with great service, now they have Meg Whitman running it like her campaign for governor (lost at an excessive cost). These Magenta cartridges must have a chip inside that is going bad and saying the cartridges are empty. Wish there was a work around, but have not seen yet on the internet. Cheaper to buy a new printer every time the ink runs out.
