I have two and have had them for more than a year now. I maintain them as directed. If you follow use and care instructions specifically, they function as advertised. My home is not carpeted and I have 3 house dogs and a carpenter husband. My house generates copious amounts of dust and I suffer from seasonal allergies and asthma. Along with the aid of prescription medication, the purifiers keep the dust down considerably. I have one in the bedroom and one in the living room. I only wish I could afford to buy a couple more. I find the cost prohibitive and they rarely, if ever, go on sale. They're also not pretty to look at. It's hard to put them in a strategic spot for maximum effectiveness without them standing out like the Washington Monument painted black. Otherwise, I'm pleased with the performance I get out of the two I have. The only time they are noisy is when they've gone too long without cleaning (I clean mine every 5-7 days), the blades are not given enough time to dry properly after cleaning, or the wires at the back of the unit need to be cleaned.
