This item is in another department so I haven't looked at the machine. Is this a part that we can change or do we have to call for service? Also,does the machine flash an alert you when the item needs replaced?

  Easy to replace, machine will tell you it is needed (and will stop working when it is mandatory to replace it. If you have the patience you can vacuum it out yourself and reuse it, but it requires either a toner vacuum or similar vacuum because it is filled with a fine powder and very messy. I have a spare to put in the machine(s) when needed and vacuum the old one out and save it as the next spare.

  The waste toner works for up to 18,000 color pages and 36, 000 black and white. You can change it yourself by following the manufacture's instructions. You'll need to contact Lexmark with your other question.

  This is a waste toner bottle. It collects the toner not fused on each print and stores it into the watse toner bottle to be properly disposed of.
