I work out of the home and am constantly on the phone. Long winded folks, giving webinars and standard discussions all make this the perfect tool. The mute button is very easy to reach for the times you need to tell your dog to be quiet or your kids "yes, you can go play ball with buddy" while you are on that very important conf call with the customer. Durability, clear calls and a mute button are the main things I look for and this one excels in all of them.

I use this headset in my work truck, so I don't need or want a top-shelf component because it'll only get destroyed. Low price-point reflects its utilitarian quality: it won't take much abuse, but when it breaks in a year or so it'll only cost another [$] to replace. Headset itself is lightweight and moderately comfortable to wear, but the unit as a whole is unwieldy to use due to the disproportionately large and heavy mute/volume control pod spliced in midway up the delicate, small-gauge cord.

This headset works great with my cordless at home. I work from home and this is very easy to use and comfortable to wear even for an 8 hour day!

could do better

Comments about Plantronics M214C Headset for Cordless Telephones:

Though having one ear not covered would theoretically allow one to be better aware of goings-on other than the phone coverstaion, I do not find this one-eared means of communication very desirable, at least with this particular headset. On the side opposite the speaker, the plastic arm is not too comfortable against one's head. This could be eased by a piece of foam placed over the plastic. The on-wire control feature is nice, but the speaker volume was much too low for a solid conversation. On the call, the person to whom I was speaking did not complain about my voice being too loud or too low but honestly I didn't ask. Had the earpiece volume been adjustable to a louder level, the one-eared design might have proven more palatable. On the good side, this headset was relatively inexpensive, and definitely sturdier than similar "GE" branded headsets, but not so cheap as to make me expect such low (albeit adequate for some things) quality. I will likely be returning this one.

Not sure who this is designed to fit...

Comments about Plantronics M214C Headset for Cordless Telephones:

I wear a headset for about 8 hours a day most days. I thought I woudl spend a few more bucks and see if it would buy me a better, longer lasting headset than the "cheapies."

Nope.

Not only that, but the dang thing just doesn't fit, and isn't adjustable to any degree.

It might be OK if the microphone boom was flexible and could be adjusted, but it is rigid. It either rubs my upper lip and scratches (I'm a guy - I have a 5 o'clock shadow from about 8 AM) or it's falling into my mouth, or it's rubbing on my chin (and scratching on that 5 o'clock shadow).

The earpiece is small and only minimally flexible - so it is constantly falling off my ear.

The off-side piece of the headband has no flex to it - so the whole thing wants to fall off my head at the least provocation. Not good when I'm talking with Mrs. McGillicuddy...

The in-line volume control looks like a great idea, but really it's just something more to break - and my phone looks after that function nicely all by itself - mute too.

The cord is very light gauge wire - not sure how that is going to stand up.... But I won't be finding out - I retired this thing promptly, putting it into storage as a backup for when the next one breaks. That would be a Panasonic KX TCA430 which is about the same price but at least fits a bit better and has a flexible mic boom... I don't expect it to last much longer than any of these headsets, but at least it is more comfortable.

I sure wish someone would make a headset that can stand up to daily use and fits comfortably - I'd be happy to pay a premium for that...

Comments about Plantronics M214C Headset for Cordless Telephones:

Love the convenience of the headset. The only negative thing I have found is that the volume seems to be too low even on the highest setting. Of course, some people talk softer than others, but it still should be able to be adjusted.

Good, but not great

Comments about Plantronics M214C Headset for Cordless Telephones:

Picked up this headset on sale for about half off, so price-wise this is a great deal. However, after taking the unit out of the box, its discovered that the boom part of the headset is not at all flexible. If I wear it the way it's most comfortable (the padding right on my ear), the boom is practically in my mouth. Call quality is great, just not so comfortable to be able to use it as a headset and not a chew toy.
