I can't remember how many times I've seen people's names painted on office supplies like staplers and tape dispensers (and it's all actually company property to begin with) with nail polish so that the items don't "walk away from" their desks. The worst thing I've seen lately is owners' (users') names painted on new office chairs with white liquid correction fluid. Needless to say, it all looks messy and poorly executed. I bought these white oil-based markers to write my name on supplies I actually bought (at Staples) and brought in to use at work. I don't mark up anything that's not mine (with the exception of the new chair, as these have been found to travel when empty), but what I do write on comes out much better than nail polish and white correction fluid. It's also more permanent than paper or sticky labels--even the plastic ones that can be made with a label maker (which no one seems to use in offices, but these are also on sale at Staples). I was nice enough to let my co-workers use it to write their names on the backs or legs of their new black chairs, as well (which were purchased at Staples, as well, it seems). Only the one who could not wait for me to lend her the marker glopped up the legs of the chair base with white correction fluid. Looks worse than the worst graffiti! I even marked one chair with someone else's name in error. I panicked, thinking, it was permanent. It might have been, had it dried, but I was able to wipe it clean with rubbing alcohol immediately. Not a trace... (This was the chair that had someone's name in correction fluid on the legs of the base already.) They're made by Sharpie, and they handle like regular felt-tip markers, but you have to shake them up for a little while and keep pumping the tip up and down on a writing surface. They come in white and all metallics such as gold, silver, and copper, and I highly recommend getting every one.

Bought the white markers to use for labeling black CDs. After considerable shaking to mix the paint they finally wrote an acceptable line. A few days later I tried to use them on an envelope and after shaking got only a transparent bleed of thinner. Today...nothing. I guess you need to use them up immediately once you get an acceptable white paint flow. I just tried again, following on-tube instructions, and got a large white blob. Maybe I'll just use them for writing on huge packages that line size and blobs don't matter!

White Sharpie Oil Based Medium Marker

Comments about Sharpie Paint Oil Based Marker, Medium, White, 2/Pack:

I originally bought these pens to paint over and cover up a few scratches and chips on some pieces of white wood furniture I have in my office. The pens took a while to get flowing, and I had to shake them up often to keep them from getting runny. They got the job done, so I would recommend them for uses similar to mine, but I would not recommend them for covering larger areas. Other than the runny consistency at times, I think the product worked well and was worth the price. Use a few coats after letting the first one dry if necessary.
