I use these fasteners but put them through a punched hole in the file folder. The backing that adhears to the file keeps workers from cutting their hands on the files. We often have 100 or more sheets of paper fastened into the files. If the fastner is just taped to the folder they won't hold. If they go through the folder but the metal part is not covered you cut your hands when filing in tight drawers. This saves hands and keeps files organized!

We use them for our job folders. Each year is a new color folder and not all folders come with fasteners so we make our own. The one thing I'd like the manufacturer to do is to put measurements on them so that when you place on the file it's even each time. Other than that, they last and never come off once placed.

Have you noticed that "expanding files" with pre-installed fasteners do not allow for expansion? If you want to expand, you need to allow an additional space between the file crease & the prongs.

We use these to place the fasteners in the proper place to enable expansion. They are super fast, sturdy and they don't come un-stuck.

Have also used the SafeShield model with coating over the metal. Those are nice too if you do not like the metal edges. I worried about them beiing like the vinyl coated paperclips that have no resiliency - not the case with the coated fasteners.

I need fasteners on my file folders but purchasing the ones already attached were costly. Also I buy other colors and easily make customized color coded folders at a fraction of the cost.
