I use this pencil sharpener with the my private students (ages 5-11). It is the perfect alternative to the big, bulky, or noisy pencil sharpeners and to the small, flimsy, messy ones. It gives a sharp point with very little effort and keeps all of the shavings inside its receptacle until I empty it. I pack it in my bag when I travel between students' homes so I always have a pencil sharpener on hand. I recommend it for parents of small school-aged children. You can buy one for each child. It should be added to the school supplies lists!

I love this particular pencil sharpener that has been made by Staedtler. It comes in very handy when I work with students in the classroom. Unlike most small hand-held sharpeners, this one is made of metal parts inside (not cheap plastic!!!), which ensures long durability and a pencil that can easily be well-sharpened. I've tried many other sharpeners and I have been frustratingly disappointed with them. They break so easily or fall apart. Other times, most of the pencil was wasted trying to sharpen it, because it would break the lead. I am very happy to finally have a pencil sharpener that I can count on to work reliably every time!

Great on regular pencils, but most importantly works on colored pencils really well too!

We have an electric sharpener at work,and every
time you try to use it,it eats at least 1/2 my
pencils before you get a point on it.

We use color pencils in our classroom. My students like them sharp. The electric sharpener gets gummed up with the soft lead of the pencils. The old hand sharpener was a cheepy and broke. so since we sharpen alot desided to spendthe money on something good. I was concernabout paying [$] on this but now we love it and use it everyday. My students have become very protective of this sharpener and make sure it is always put away in my desk when not being used so it does not get lost. The one day it did get lost they were ready to turn the classroom upside down till it was found, It was missed placed in the wrong drawer.

I work as a paraeducator. I keep one of these in my drawer for the kids to use if the teacher is in the middle of instruction. It is much less disruptive than the electric or standard wall sharpener, and often gives a better point. It would be even better if every child had one of these in their desk. It stays very sharp through most of the school year, but that is with 26 kids using it daily.
