Q: I have to buy DVD's I am not sure what the difference is with the + or - Asked on 8/30/2010 by Ama Know the answer? Answer this question 3 answers A: DvD-R: Write once, better for Video as widely accepted by home DvD players.\n\nDvD+R: Write once BUT data can be added later (not RW, but still accessible). Better for data as most Computer DvD players can read it and you can fill half the disk, then add a quarter, and the complete it a year later (as an example). Answered on 10/11/2010 by Customer Care from Staples A: Almost all dvd recorders are compatible now by using the + or -. If you have a recorder that is at least 10+ years old then you may want to be concerned. Answered on 1/14/2011 by Addie from Hermitage, PA A: DVD+R is a better format that is more robust and should work well with any DVD burner that is not ancient. You also have to consider yoru audience of DVDs you burn; if your family or friends have old DVD players, the DVD-R would be better. To find out, the DVD players/recorders have labels on them showing the various formats it can handle or the owner's manuals. For more detail, just Google "DVD Formats" for the technical explanations.
