In our household the note pads are used throughout the house ie computer & business desk, the kitchen for quick shopping list and in the car. It is truly ironic that I received this email regarding the purchase of these pads today. I received from an auto parts house complimentary paper pads & pens,brought them home this evening and that brought up discussion of your pads. Both my wife and I agreed that the quality of your pads were different from ones we have purchased from Staples in the past. But like a good many products fall in the "go green" catagory your pads have gone down in quality.
The biggest hassle is tearing off a single sheet, the entire pad comes apart in about 3/4 pieces.
Although, still useable. A big disappoinment

              Does this pad have a stiff cardboard back so it can be inserted in the flip-cover jotter pads typically given away by exhibitors at conferences etc? Can you recommend another item at Staples that would be a better choice as a refill for such pad? I attend lots of conferences and have acquired many of the jotters, but no refills for when the original pad is used up.

                Unfortunately, these do not include cardboard backing; they are just a pad of paper bound with glue at the top. The smallest size we carry with the cardboard backing is 5" x 8"; for example, item 163873

                I love these pads. They do have a weak binding. I apply a strip of tape across the top and back. This holds it all together much better.
