Who isn't value oriented in this economy?! BUT it's not a good value if it isn't also a quality product--and why pay designer prices for something that is no better in function and doesn't bring a smile to my face?
I organize by color so I had to consider how to make these all black clips work for me. Solution? color coding materials on-hand: file folder labels and dots, post-it note or flag (sticky part), white paper and a marker. These can be placed on the clip's: "spine" (if stored a filing cabinet), "sides" (if you "flat-file", AKA piling), both - use a larger piece of color-coding material and wrap it from the front-side across the spine to the back-side. This works well for projects-in-progress that will go to longer-term storage in a file cabinet.
Any of these color coding materials can be secured to the clip w/ packaging tape (trimmed to size after applying to the clip).
The container that the clips come in, stores well and is the right size to be put into regular service; as opposed to some that once they are in use or un-packed it is either a mystery to be solved or some kind of IQ test to be able to return the contents to its packaging for future use.

The part that concerns me is that they are made in China. Instead of providing corporate welfare to other countries, how about helping the economy in the country in which you are based, which ultimately directly benefits you. I object to paying twice for this or any kind of product- once at the register and again because of the job(s) lost here by having them manufacturered, outsourced to another country. This country has a 10% unemployment rate, relaistically about 17%- what you could not find facilities or people to make them here?!?!??!?
Comments about Staples® Medium Metal Binder Clips, 1 1/4" size with 5/8"Capacity:
These clips are very sturdy & will hold paper without slippage...no matter if thick or thin stack. When we have cookouts at work, they are used as chip clips for any potato chip bags not emptied!!
