On February 13 I went to the Staples store in Titusville to buy 25 sheets of 8 ½ x 11 card stock and have it punched with a center hole on one side and binder holes on the other. The two employees were busy, but the manager came to help me, but said that there were several orders ahead of me, and that I could come back later in the day to pick up my order. I explained to the manager that I lived in Cocoa and didn't want to have to make two trips to Titusville. He then was gracious enough to work my order himself, which he did to my satisfaction. I asked about the binders which would put the sheets together, and the manager directed me to the store aisle where I could find the binders. I found that the binders were restricted to different sizes, but not different types. I picked out what I thought would be the right size from what was available, paid for my purchases, and went home.
Upon examining the binders at home I discovered that what I bought was for a different type of binder hole and couldn't be used for my sheets. So on the 15th I went back to the store to exchange my binders for the correct type. The employee in the area where I had bought my card stock told me that the type of binder that I needed wasn't sold in the store and that I should have received the correct binders from their stock when I originally had the card stock punched. I explained that I really need the correct binders and that the card stock that I had bought was useless without the correct type binder. The employee told me that she couldn't give me the correct binders at this later date, but she could sell me some from their store stock, but the price was $4.00 for each binder! I was certainly surprised at the price, but since I was in immediate need of a binder I agreed to buy a single binder.
I took that purchase and a few other items to the cashier, explained that I needed a refund for the incorrect binders and also that I had a 10% off coupon for my new purchases. He rang up my refund, then my new purchases. But he had difficulty in scanning in my coupon, however, then told me that for some reason, the fact that I had a return kept the coupon from being validated. With a sigh of resignation, he further explained that he would have to void out all the previous transactions, and then credit the return separately from ringing up the new items, and did I really want him to do that. By this time I was getting frustrated with my whole Staples experience, and told the cashier to forget it, I'd simply pay for my purchases without using the coupon. I gave my credit card to pay, and the cashier asked to see my driver's license, which seemed a prudent thing to do. But in looking at both he informed me in a rather rude way, that the name on the card didn't match my driver's license name. I explained that the card had my wife's name on it, and he finally reluctantly accepted it.
I certainly can see the value in a policy of checking credit cards closely, but this employee's attitude, and the difficulty in the process of being able to get binders for the card stock I had purchased just two days earlier gives me a great deal of reluctance in patronizing this store in the future. I'm not sure if all Staples stores operate in this poor manner, but if I have a need for a Staples store in the future I will certainly look for a store other than the Titusville Staples.

Comments about Staples Plastic Comb Binding Spines, 1/4" Diameter, 20 Sheets, 25 Pack, Black:

I recently purchased a binding machine so I could make my own, unique journals for gifts. I needed a specific size and found all of the supplies I need for now and the future at Staples, one shop shopping. These spines are strong, flexible, responibly prices per each, which makes it affordable to make several journals, calendar, notepads at one time. The fact they are plastic makes it simple to cut them to fit every application that I need. I love the fact that I can get them in several colors.

Good for binding simple books illustrated by young students. The price was right and the quality is fine for binding 10-20 pieces of construction paper.

This is a really good product. I'm glad you sent it to me. I waited 20 minutes in the Winter Haven store to ask someone about the product and never did get to ask. Didn't seem to be interested in helping the customer, so I bought this on line. Thanks for the free shipping. Much easier way to shop when the local business either doesn't have time for you or aren't prepared for handling customers who need help.

I have been using these binders for approximately 10 years. I make a family calendar for my siblings and extended family that wishes a copy. This product was also used to make the 125th anniversary cook book for our church's anniversary celebration. We sold these cook books all year long at the various celebrations that we had to celebrate the anniversary. We got many a complement. We also like the idea that if we decided to expand the cook book and had any left that we could unbind and rebind with the same binder to add additional pages.
