We have a one bedroom apartment in the city and my husbands' home office is in one corner of our bedroom. The filing cabinets are attractive enough to be in the bedroom and not make it feel like an office. He has two stacked next to his side of the bed. They work well for files and as a night stand. The others are in different configurations of two or three (we've collected them as he's needed more filing space). The cream and gray blends into the rooms decor well.

I needed extra file storage space so decided to get this unit. It is designed to be stacked, but checking it out at the store, the top unit doesn't really stack very well, i.e., the stacked pieces don't interlock and the top unit easily slides off the lower unit. I bought it anyway because I only needed one unit. However, the flimsy construction is such that almost any weight on the top of the unit causes the top to flex which then makes it difficult to open the drawer. I'm not happy with this unit and may just bring it back.

This plastic file drawer is not beautiful nor is it wonderfully made, but it serves my purposes, though I wish the corners of the drawer were not so sharp... they catch and scratch. The drawer comes with a spacer to hold the sides parallel to each other, but since there is no mechanism for holding the spacer in place it slips diagonally and does not serve the purpose indented. I only bought one so I can not comment on their stacking ability or how sturdy they are when stacked. Since it is made of plastic it's appearance would be greatly enhanced if it were available in fun colors.

I noticed that it was indicated in a previous answer that the drawer cannot open and close if tabs are used on the top of the files to indicate their content. Please verify if this is true. If it is true, how can the folders be used without tabs to indicate what files they contain?

  The top of this file folder and the bottom of the top of the file cabinet are too close together to allow tabs to stick up. Best option would be to be tabless file folders of different colors, and remember what color is what category. If that option won't work, you will have to look for a different file drawer.

Someone indicated that tabs can't be used on top of the folders because they would prevent the drawers from opening and closing.

Our church uses these stackable drawers for teaching materials. Both keys per drawer we distributed to the set of teachers for each class- one set per drawer. Three of the four teaches with a key to two drawers have had the plastic key top crack and the metal key fall out. I have lost the metal part of the key. I need a replacement - can I get one from the company if I have the bar code?
