I had to have a scientific calculator for my calculus tests. I'm not allowed to use a graphing calculator for them.

I have used the TI-84SE and wanted a calculator that I didn't have to relearn where all of the buttons were located. I love this one! I picked it up and started using it immediately. All of the keys are self explanatory since I've used TI in the past. It made for an easy transition.

I highly recommend this for anyone who has used TI graphing calculators. It has multi-line display and it functions like a graphing calculator instead of a traditional one. It is a bit more expensive than other scientific calcs, but it was worth the extra money for these benefits.

I had to pick this up for a college physics class because my TI-83 was on the banned calculator list. I don't know why Texas instruments changed the button layout (putting a conversion button where the + should be), or why they changed icons, but it's miserable and consistently causes me to make mistakes that would have never happened with a standardised keypad.

Comments about Texas Instruments TI-36X Pro Scientific Calculator:

This is a great calculator!! I bought this calculator for the PE Exam, because I use a TI-89 Platinum at work, and I like TI's. This calculator does everything that I use the TI-89 for. The only down side to this calculator is that it won't handle really long Engineering calculations very well (they need to be solved in steps), but for the price you can't beat it!!

Finishing up an engineering degree. All the professors will only allow calculators from the FE approved list. This fits the bill at a nice price with a few gains of functions from the (really old) graphing calculator.

Comments about Texas Instruments TI-36X Pro Scientific Calculator:

This calculator has some large advantages over the standard TI-30XS. In my opinion this is the best calculator on the market today outside of the TI-89 equivalent or HP 50g. It has most basic features that I use for everyday calculation. It take a few microsecond longer to turn on there does my TI-30XS but is faster on large calculations. I would recommend this calculator to anyone that is doing any computation that requires scientific ability.

Yes this calculator has a number of memory programming functions, however it is not a graphing calculator.

            • Q:

I am looking for a TI calculator that does these functions:
1.) Statistical functions capable of calculating mean, standard deviation and correlation.
2.) A change sign function for numbers and exponents
3.) A universal power function (not on/off but multipling numbers times themselves)
              4.) Scientific Notation
              5.) Combinations, Permutations, and Factorials
6.) Good sized keys so not to push more than one at once.
7.) Well illustrated instruction manual with examples of problems and answers with illustrations.
8.) One that would be a multi-line subsitute for the TI-30X IIS.

              Thank you.
