I considered purchasing the Vaultz Locking Mobile Wheelie Chest in 2013 to use during my travel season, which is from February thru November of each year. I travel with trade show materials, which is about 90lbs total, so I needed two cases that could endure the luggage check-in and handling process from my original departure, to layovers, and then to my final destination, and then to do it all over again when I travel home. Oh yeah, I do this about 16 times a year. In 2013 I purchased two Staples Expanding Folding Crate on Wheels – item number 440122. This was a mistake because the cases did not last my initial flight from DCA to MYR. I went to Staples while I was in South Carolina, and Staples replaced them. I tried to use them again during my return flight to DC, and they returned to me in pieces on the baggage claim carousel. I gave up and just purchased a small carry-on luggage bag, but it was impractical to use because it was not sturdy enough and could not accommodate my materials.

Well, fast forward to March 2014, and I decided to give the Vaultz Locking Mobile Wheelie Chest a try. I purchased two, and packed them with my trade show materials, and I was impressed that everything fit nicely, and they had the sturdy feel I needed, so I was pretty confident that this item would do the job. I also fix a full sheet adhesive label reading "Fragile…", hoping this would help ensure the airport luggage personnel would handle with care; my flight was from DCA to MCO. When I arrived to Orlando, specifically the baggage claim carousel, I was greeted by chests that were 95% intact. I was impressed, but a little nervous to use them during my return flight, knowing I needed to also use them transporting my materials to the trade show floor at the Orlando International Convention Center. The chests held up well during my daily (3 days) use, and also held up well during my return flight home to DCA from MCO where they again greeted me at the baggage claim carousel 95% intact. The 5% damage the chests sustained during both legs of travel to and from DCA to MCO, and then MCO to DCA, was wood supports at the front of the chests lids that could not sustain the handling from the luggage personnel at the airport. Although I plastered the chests with fragile labels, I am not oblivious to the fact that they will stack heaver items on the chests when sorting luggage and other items in the planes' storage compartment. However, I am impressed that they still held up as well as they did. My guess is that I will get maybe two more [to and from] trips out of these chests, but it if there lids were better reinforced I have no doubt that they would last through my entire travel season, which is very demanding even on my personal luggage which I typically to have to replace every three years.

I had high hopes for this rolling cart. It is designed to hold either letter or legal files, and have a locking mechanism.

I was a little nervous about buying this since all the labels had come off and were inside the "crate" part, but I figured that I'd give it a try.

I got the cart home and read about how to set the locking mechanism... push the buttons outward, and then dial to my desired code and then release the buttons. Simple, right?

Well, no, not really. The combination dials were locked in place with a couple of zip ties. I cut those, tried shifting the left button outward, and tried to spin the combination dials. Nope. Not moving... not at all. I wrestle with it for a while, and cannot get the button to shift outward and the dials to spin at all. If I am not shifting the button outward, the dials will spin, but very hard.

Well, ok, I'll try just using the right side, and maybe that will be secure enough. Nope, similar issue. Pushing the button outward I was able to turn the dials, but only all at once.

At this point I cannot tell whether the "locks" have been set or not, and I don't trust it to try locking it to test it.

It's very overpriced for the quality of the locks. I don't know that I will be keeping this.

Comments about Ideastream Vaultz Locking Mobile Wheelie Chest Letter/Legal, Black:

Sturdy enough and holds a good amount of my planning and lesson materials. Have not had a problem with it in the year and a half I have used it. I really like that it locks with two three digit (simple) codes. I can secure student paperwork to transport between home and school. I waited soo long to write the review because I had many others (that didn't lock-from many companies) break within a few months. I am very pleased and definitely recommend this case!

This is exactly what i needed - transporting files between home and office.
And i think it's kind of stylish, too! Wheels work well and it's not too heavy or awkward. Recommend!
