A Very Poor Product

I have purchased many XACTO products over the years. This was a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. The most important part of the trimmer is the cutting handle. This handle is terrible....flimsy plastic that wobbles. I tried to cut about five thin sheets of paper and the handle was hung up on the side of the trimmer. I took it back to Staples the next time the doors opened and purchased a GBC trimmer. Only [$] more but a million times better. What happened to XACTO's quality controlon this product.

Found that you cannot cut more than 5 pieces of paper or the paper will BEND with the blade and not be CUT by it. Also found that you need to lean/push the blade toward the board and down toward the table at THE SAME TIME to get the paper cut. The sliding guide is useless. Too hard to move around.

I paid such a large amount for the name brand that turned out to be the worst product I think I have ever purchased. It doesn't cut a straight line, the blade doesn't even cut consistently. Nothing EXACT about this Exacto.

The blade carrier is plastic and even though the blade is pretty sharp, it consistently cuts crooked. There is so much free play at the carrier head, you have to put lots of pressure against the handle to try to keep the blade in contact with the base and even that isn't enough most of the time. Lots of crooked cuts and don't even try a tight trim.

This is a Very Poor paper cutter. It leaves ragged edges with only 2 sheets of lightweight cardstock (65 lb). The cutter blade does not go all the way back up, and it was much too loose. It is also very thin and flexes during use. The primary markings are metric, and they are not even very accurate! Even after I tightened several loose screws as it came, it's performance was bad... to me, useless! This unit is WAY WAY overpriced. Better yet, it really should not be sold. C'mon Staples, don't sell this kind of junk.

I purchased this item in store which was one of two that I could pick from. The item is very light weight and the blade cuts very smoothly. BUT... the ruler is not straight making every cut uneven. I had to use the grid on the board (which is overwhelming to look at)to cut, which was very frustrating because I couldn't rest the paper along the ruler on top. I'm returning this item and purchasing the Westcott.
