MEA CULPA!
Although I do know that one should 'assume nothing', I did assume that the Staples-brand notebooks would be of lesser quality than the 'brand'-name ones, so I ordered both. The Staples notebook has a strong, double coil, has a thick cardboard backing, is made in USA and is almost half the price of the 'brand'-name one! Apparently, you can't go wrong with a Staples noteb...
