Reliable
I purchased this printer to replace my inkjet printer as the black ink cartridges always dried out within three months of installation. This laser printer is more reliable and probably more cost effective long term.

Deep sleep never wakes up & low yield cartridges
Based on good reviews from Wire Cutter, I installed three of these in my work environment. The printer goes into deep sleep and never wakes up so printing is a hassle. Changing margins in Word for some reason accesses the printer driver, and then Word hangs and needs to be restarted. A simple effort to change margins in a document is a hassle. Brother BEWARE - Brand on the decline
Had their previous model, the 2270, which worked fine for our Windows 11 and MacBook computers. Upgraded to this one (pretty much the same) to find it does not fully support the MacBook. No more printing on both sides. The new drivers do not support a 5-year-old MacBook. They said I could not use the drivers for my old Brother printer, and sorry I was "inconvenienced'. ...

Not compatible with older Mac OS
Not compatible with older Mac OS. Brother does not have a driver to download. Was able to make it work somewhat by using a different Brother driver but it only prints 1-sided. Duplex prints garbage on the second side..

Re install:Took 7 phone calls before I got escalated.one rep said they could not escalate because I was exhausted after I was on the phone an hour. If you have verizon Fios it is best to ask verizon to more than refresh your router before attempting to install. I didn’t realize it did not print double-sided. I previously had the HL-L23500W and it did print double-sided. Lasted me about seven years. I thought this one was like an upgrade since the other one got discontinued or else I would’ve purchased it.
