Deep sleep never wakes up & low yield cartridges
Based on good reviews from Wire Cutter, I installed three of these in my work environment. The printer goes into deep sleep and never wakes up so printing is a hassle. Changing margins in Word for some reason accesses the printer driver, and then Word hangs and needs to be restarted. A simple effort to change margins in a document is a hassle. Fiddly setup but doesn't use much space
This is a nicely sized printer...roughly the size of a stereo receiver. It's a great size for a B&W printer that can duplex. The toner cartridge is surprisingly large though.
The wifi set up was a bit fiddly. Brother no longer prints the wifi setup password on the back of the printer so you have to google around to find out that you have to go into network setting...

Good printer with annoying high-frequency buzzing sound
Printer works as advertised but has a very, very high-pitched buzz that continues even while the printer is in deep sleep mode. It only stops when unplugged. Older folks may not hear the buzz since it's such a high frequency, but it's annoying if you work in a quiet space near your printer and can hear it.

I'm using this in a home where infrequent printing is required and no color is needed. Happy with purchase so far. Crisp, clear documents are provided. Printer remains in Deep Sleep mode most of the time so first page printed takes 10-15 seconds but further pages follow promptly. Auto duplex saves paper but con be aborted easily. Sleep mode issues
It falls into sleep and deep sleep mode all too often and is hard to get to come out of this and print.

Easy to setup
I'm not a tech person, worry about can't succeed for the setup, therefore I watched the YouTube videos before purchase the printer, and I found it was easy to setup to connect to wifi and two of my mobile phones,and the printing speed is fast. I'm satisfied with the product and will recommend it if you need simple printer.

Brother BEWARE - Brand on the decline
Had their previous model, the 2270, which worked fine for our Windows 11 and MacBook computers. Upgraded to this one (pretty much the same) to find it does not fully support the MacBook. No more printing on both sides. The new drivers do not support a 5-year-old MacBook. They said I could not use the drivers for my old Brother printer, and sorry I was "inconvenienced'. ...
