It sucks
For the price I paid I expected to do a better job at sharpening the pencils. It sharpens unevenly only one side sharpens. I would not buy this item again.

Sturdy but opening is awkward
This is a well-built sharpener. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is that we want to mount it on a wall but to open it up to clean out the shavings will be awkward with the way the cup needs to be twisted to remove it. Otherwise this is a strong sharpener.

It sucks

So far so good...
Got this for the kids primarily. Tired of cheap portable plastic sharpeners getting lost and broken. Was hoping to find something close to the quality that was on the walls of my elementary school 40 years ago and this comes reasonably close. Of course nothing is made like it used to be. Cover connection worries me as the material is thin and it may stop snapping ...

Sufficient for large homeschool family
We are a homeschool family of 10 children and wanted an old school durable pencil sharpener. This seems to be what we were looking for. We have been using it for months and it is solid and is sufficient for our large family.

Doesn't last when kids use it
I've had three of these. The third lasted one marking period in a 6th grade science room. When kids use them they gobble pencils like a piranha then begin to sharpen unevenly and break points until there's no pencil left. No more of these for me. When brand new they work great 1-2 turns of the handle and you're good to go. If you get one don't let the kids near it!

My husband is a cabinetmaker and was looking for a STURDY MOUNTABLE pencil sharper specifically one that grinds with DOUBLE SHARPENING BARRELS for his bench. I was happy to find the X-ACTO Ranger 55. We've used this sharpener for a few weeks. So far it is incredibly fast and effective. It is very solidly made and instantly appeared different from other classroom sharpeners I've purchased. It has a shavings compartment that completely comes off the device.

This sharpener works great.. my 6 year old is able to use it without any assistance from me. The ability to sharpen even the batter pencils is a absolute bonus

Could be smoother
The screws were of low quality and stripped very easily when I screwed the sharpener on the wall.The sharpener does not sharpen evenly around the pencil.I like that I can place it on a counter or a wall.

Good Pencil Sharpener
I bought the pencil sharpener for our family to use. It easily mounted to the wall with the 2 screws provided. Works well so far however only installed it yesterday.
