Packaging, profit & planned obsolescence
The transaction with Staples was excellent. My opinion of Canon’s decision to package & price these inks in a manner designed to maximize their sales ensures wastage by customers forced to buy inks in packages that do not reflect usage. Used ink cartridges in a new pack of cartridges.
I was unpleasantly surprised to open my canon ink cartridge box just purchased 2 h before. 2 cartridges were already consumed and empty and 2 were new. The surprise came from the fact that the box was sealed and it was even contained in a sealed plastic container in the store. Canon needs to double check his employés.

All I wanted was the black 221, but you didn't carry that. Now I have 3 unopened colors sitting in my drawer. You really should carry the blacks without the colors as well.
