Ink cartridges.
I have an HP printer so I use HP ink cartridges. Each time I turn on my printer it goes through the motions and blips my cartridges. It also invades my desktop to tell me It loves me for using original ink cartridges. Ahg. It wastes my ink and tells me something I don't need to know.

I'm sorry that you don't like the printer maintenance routine. While it does seem annoying, it is necessary to ensure the continued smooth running of the printer.
It is an excellent idea to turn off the printer when it isn't in use (although you should make sure to always turn it off using the power button on the printer). That can save you some ink because a printer left on for long periods of time will need to do an occasional maintenance routine to ensure that the tiny inkjets don't get clogged up due to the ink drying inside them.

The ink jet worked just fine and was very easy to install. They did not have the cartridge available in the store that I needed and had to order it to be sent to my home. That was fine with me because it came within a day. However I do hope that the next time I need an ink jet that they have it in stock in the store.
