HP 63 Tri Color cartridge
When I installed the cartridge my printer the read out said "the indicated cartridges are not intened for use in this printer". Meaning the cartridge didn't work out of the package!!

Hi Dick I'm sorry that this happened to you. I can understand your disappointment when the didn't work. Sometimes that message appears with the correct cartridge when the contacts on the cartridge (or in the printer) are dirty or damaged. To see if that is the case carefully polish the copper contacts on the cartridge (and the matching ones inside the printer) with lint-free material to see if that helps the connection and lets it work. Don't buy this
This is a mess. Ink only last a week. Raise the price to over $40.00 each. I'll order ink and try to refill my own cartridge.

cartridge malfunction
The cartridge was no good and unfortunately I had already threw away the package and paperwork so I'm assuming I can't return it for a new one. I have always had great luck with the new cartridges but this is an extra expense I can't afford right now.

Can HP Disable Ink Cartridges??
The ink smears easily and my last cartridge just stopped working on my HP Office Jet 3830 claiming it was not authentic HP ink. ??

I'm sorry that this happened to you, but this is not a matter of the cartridge being "disabled". It might just be that the error message was accurate.
Genuine HP ink is especially formulated to be smudge-resistant, water-resistant and fade-resistant, so having it smear easily sounds suspicious. Also, if that message appears after the cartridge has been working fine, it is usually because it was refilled.
It might be good to check how to tell if a cartridge is authentic by going to: hp.com/go/anticounterfeit
