Improper ink cartridge
I bought the correct ink cartridge and replaced the old one. Now I’m getting an error message saying it’s an improper ink cartridge. It is very disappointing that some many people have posted having the same issue and HP hasn’t fixed the issue.

Hi Mary It is regrettable that you had this experience. I can understand if you are not happy about that. That error message can be a caused by a fingerprint or some damage on the contacts. Carefully polish the copper contacts on the cartridge (and the matching ones inside the printer) with some kind of lint-free material to see if that helps the connection. Hi Suzanne I am sorry that the cartridge didn’t last long for you. I can understand if you are not happy but rest assured that we take your feedback very seriously. Perhaps you were printing denser printouts with this cartridge. Ink usage determines how long it lasts. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry.
