I went on the site under what HP printer I have bought. And I thought it would only bring up the ink I need for my printer. But somehow I got an ink sent to me that was completely wrong. I am very sorry you bought an incompatible cartridge. These cartridges are valuable but always verify them against the printer model. Unfortunately, search results can contain other cartridges in there.

Cartridge not working.

Hi Neil Error messages can pop up for several reasons. The first strategy is to ensure the cartridge is firmly inserted in the cartridge holder. You should hear a clicking sound. If that happens then software might be the cause. Software updates occasionally prevent a cartridge from being recognized. Reverting the update fixes the issue.
