It makes the printer work
I forgot when I purchased the HP printer that BOTH the color AND the black cartridges need to have ink or the printer doesn't print. The color cartridge sits there for about a year rarely used but the sensors will stop your printing if it is empty.

It has to be present or the printer doesn't work.
I forgot when I purchased the HP printer that BOTH the color AND the black cartridges need to have ink or the printer doesn't print. The printer does not have the option of using the color cartridge if the black runs out. Alas.

HP Taking Advantage of Customers
Very few pages printed...aprox 700 pgs and used (4) cartridges...Over $100.00 in cost...Not Staples problem but I will do whatever not to purchase HP product again....

Hi Mark We want to exceed your expectations. We didn't exceed them here. I would like to explain the causes for the lower page yields than expected. If you are comparing it to advertisements the number of pages might appear to vary. The ads are based on an average. It is not a guarantee of those pages. Several factors cause lower page yields. If the cartridge is dry when you start you might get fewer pages. It might also be related to what you are printing. Photos posters invitations and other prints use more ink. If you printed 700 pages at once it might have impacted the cartridge. Print preview and draft mode help limit ink waste. I hope I provided some insight into the situation. Short life
Despite being labeled XL the cartridge capacity is still quite small. Printed only about 60 pages .

HP ink cartridges are easy to use. No mess no fus.
So simple to replace the ink cartridge. Open printer takeout the old cartridge and replace with the new cartridge. Close cover of printer and you are ready to go.

Smooth transaction super fast shipping! Recyclying center leaves a lot to be desired though as never give credit to account for mailing in cartridges. Have to always follow up to get credit by supplying UPS tracking number which is extremely annoying
