Hello, I was sorry to hear that the cartridges did not print as many pages as you expected. Most people find that the XL version of the cartridges are a better value and they last longer. Cartridges drying out when you don't print often is a problem that usually can be prevented. It is probable that the cartridge inkjets are getting clogged after time, usually because the printer is turned off without using the power button. While it is a good idea to shut the printer down between uses, it is very important to always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridge is protected from excessive drying which leads to clogging You can regain some usage of the clogged-up cartridges though. There is a cleaning routine available from the printer's menu that you can use to clear out the inkjets. The routine might need to be run more than once to clean out the clogs completely and get the ink flowing freely again. As to pollution, HP has an excellent recycling program. Hi Jan I can understand if you're upset by the length of time the cartridge lasted. I'm sorry you've experienced this but perhaps you were printing more high-density prints lately. That would make a difference. It is always a good idea to check to make sure the replacement cartridge you got was full and genuine. Counterfeit and used cartridges can be hard to identify.
