New Ink Cartridge
A friend gifted me her used HP printer which was much better than the one I was using and it came with some inks but soon ran out of the Magenta ink cartridge so I purchased one. I have yet to install it because most of my printing has been black and white.

OEM cartridge works well price point not so much
The genuine HP ink cartridges I've purchased have been reliable. The price point for the 950 XL is problematic for me based on the amount of printing. Customers would have more options if the "standard" yield 950 cartridge was stocked at brick and mortar stores

empty cartridge
We received our in and when putting it into the printer realized the Magenta cartridge was empty and would not register as having any ink in it at all.

Hi,
I'm sorry you're experiencing this, but perhaps you are printing high-density prints. That would make a difference.
Here are things that could help:
- Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible
- Shut the printer down between uses
- Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying
- Subscribe to Instant Ink, then you only pay by the page, not for the cartridges themselves
