HP Laser Jet cartridge
Laser printers last for years and so do the cartridges. When you get a bad printout open the printer remove the cartridge and shake it from side to side to distribute whatever toner is left in there. You can do this two or three times before going to Staples for a fresh one. These may cost about three times what an ink jerk cartridge costs but last a zillion times l...

Getting even more expensive
As a Mobile Notary Public I use HP toner exclusively. The toner carts last for a reasonable number of copies but they are still way too expensive.
