Using Your SmartSensor
Hi,

Congratulations on your new smart thermostat. We’re thrilled to hear you’re excited about it! Your SmartSensor works with the thermostat to make your home more comfortable and energy efficient. It checks both the temperature and whether someone is in the room, so the thermostat knows where to focus heating or cooling. A great spot to place it is in a bedroom or l...

Lacks of an adequate wall mount
Product will not mount on the wall using the supplied wall mount. This failure turns a great idea into a waste of money

Will Not Pair with Ecobee 3 Lite
There is a firmware issue causing these not to pair with some older thermostat models. Ecobee has known of this issue for at least 10 months and is still only "colleting data". Meaning they are not actively prioritizing or developing a solution. If your thermostat is running an older version of firmware, do not buy. You will likely spend a ton of time troubleshooting...

Amazing Thermostat. They thought of it all!
I switched to Ecobee from another popular smart thermostat brand because there was a lot of things that really bugged me about that thermostat. The Ecobee 3 Lite blew me away. The advanced features it gives you for those of us that understand what these extra settings are for, are just amazing. I was surprised at how well engineered the Ecobee thermostat is, the thou...

How can I use Smart Thermostat
Ecobee's SmartSensor is simply perfect! It is actually one of the secret ingredients to making your home feel just right. It’s designed to pick up both temperature and motion, so your thermostat knows not just how warm or cool a room is, but whether someone’s actually there.

You can place it in rooms where you spend the most time—like your bedroom or home office—and ...

Didn’t work
It literally was a dud for me. I followed all the onboarding and troubleshooting steps and it never registered on my Ecobee. For reference, I’m the CTO of my company so it’s not for lack of understanding how to set these things up. It just simply was a dud. Still waiting for a refund but we’ll see.

Waste of Money and experience
I bought these smart sensors thinking they would help determine hot and cold spots throughout my house and they never work. They say a room is occupied when no one is even in there. It just tells you what the room temp is. I had this mounted on my wall in the living room with my alarm system set. At 1:30 am it detected motion when nothing was in my room at 1:30 am and 1...

Amazing difference to our home climate
These satellite sensors have completely changed the climate dynamics of our home. Let me explain. We live in a 100+ yo brownstone with small rooms and several floors. Up until we bought our Ecobee thermostat & sensors 5 months ago, we had no real way to calibrating room temps. Sometimes I would fiddle with the register grates, but then rooms that had been cold were now ...

Awful Product
Definitely would not recommend these room sensors. They do not work and are a waste of money. It adjusts the temperature 5-10* colder in my 3 year olds room so during the night it drops into the 50’s. You would think the room sensor would not let that happen.

Temperature Averaging - No Humidity Sensors
Works perfectly fine for temperature monitoring, but for the price should also measure humidity. there are parts of the world where humidity control is a concern, and being able to monitor it in different parts of the house would be extremely useful, as the thermostat is able to turn on the ac to lower the humidity.

So glad and saving money since I had this put in!
I am a renter and have seen my electric bill jump so much in the last 2 yrs. I saw on my bill that they had a program that they would come out and access ways you can save money free of charge. My landlord was 100%
behind this! Well they came and installed an ecobee thermostat! The one we had here was very old ! Now I can program what temp I want during the day for ac...

They don't work
I have one for each room and though it is nice to get an idea of which room tends to run hot to be honest unless your house is on an automatic zone setting then your AC will run and run and run and one part of your house will be freezing while the other part is ok..
I ended up removing all of them and now the main thermostat controls everything and so far so good.

This is the main flaw
I’ve always been using the solution. I believe the main flaw is on the temp sensors not being smart enough. I say this based on all tests and tweaks I’ve made with it over the course of using it. Temperature detection is spot ON but occupancy detection does not. The main flaw is the refresh rate for occupancy detection. It can’t be changed and takes more than 20 minutes...
