Anti Static Mat
Works great. Use this if your cats like to insist sleeping on your desk as you work.

Not effective in dissipating static
I work in a tech room in Alberta, a dry climate and I have static present whenever I get up from my chair. Luckily most of the computers I work on are grounded through the chassis, and static discharge doesn't damage anything. I thought I'd use this product so that I can ground myself before I handle the computers. This mat does not help in dissipating static from my bo...

Exactly what I wanted
I've worked on computers for years and have always been wary of static electricity. So far no issues but this makes working on a computer safe. I'm VERY pleased with this product. This is simple, easy to use but protects our expensive purchases!

Five star product
This product was everything I hoped for fits on my computer table very well a little big but was able to tape to fit. Way better than the floor static mats I definitely would recommend this product.

No instructions?
There's no instructions. Which way is up? How do I use the clip to ground it?
Also, it comes rolled up and you have to find something to hold it open.

Response from Staples :
We're sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing with our M3013. The beige side of the mat is the top and the black side goes on the ground which is why the clip connects to the beige side. With regard to grounding, we have a FAQ on the support page that states: The grounding clip should be attached to something that is electrically grounded to dissipate static electricity. One method is to connect the clip to a metal part of the computer case while the power supply is turned off, but plugged into a grounded wall socket.
If you require any assistance, please feel free to contact us at www.startech.com/support where our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.

Mat
It has no directions, and it seems to be very flimsy. I just received it today.

Excellent Insurance
The color I got was BLACK NOT Beige (thank goodness). It's rolled up with a little memory that goes away with some use. The mat is anti-static PVC with a foam bottom. There is also a coiled attachment wire that you clip on something to ground the mat. Specifications says the coil is 10 feet long but I'd love to see someone make that happen! The size of the mat is abo...

Needs instructions
It would be helpful, if there were instructions on using this mat. To what should one attach the clip with the 1M Ohm resistor? Me, my PC, or an electrical ground? Does it matter what I touch first after it's attached? Calling support they said attach it to an electrical ground.
