SPREAD MORE JOY
WITH THESE DIY HOLIDAY DECORATIONS
We had so much fun creating these festive holiday decorations for our Pinterest board, and we hope you will as well! Take a look at some of our favorite projects below and get step-by-step instructions on how to create these easy and elegant holiday decorations yourself!
Share the "JOY" sign
  1. Use white chalk to create or trace the word “JOY” in letters that suit your personal style.
  2. Carefully insert the gold-plated thumbtacks into the foam board on the outlines of the “J” and the “Y” in “JOY.” Do the same with the nickel-plated thumbtacks on the outline of the “O.”
  3. (optional) Add foam board hangers to the back.
Supplies

Picture-perfect greetings
  1. Paint clothespins all white. Let them dry before adding horizontal red stripes over top using the red Sharpie. (Think candy canes!)
  2. Create a bow using the red and white cotton curl ribbon.
  3. With a safety pin, carefully pin the red and white ribbon to the end of the red glitter ribbon. This will be the decorative top of the holder.
  4. Add photos to the ribbon by clipping them on with your painted clothespins.
Supplies

Greeting cards that are sew perfect!
  1. Using your pencil, create the outline of a tree on the front of your greeting card.
  2. Using the sewing needle, poke holes around the tree outline.
  3. Starting from the back, poke your sewing needle through the top hole on your tree outline, and fill in the tree with the thread in a crisscrossing pattern.
  4. Once the outline of your tree is completely filled in with thread, poke the thread through to the back one last time and tie off a double knot.

Snow-capped holiday trees
  1. Create or trace (we recommend a large plate) a semi-circle on the green construction paper using a pencil.
  2. Use a ruler to draw a straight line to complete semi-circle. Cut out the template.
  3. Pull the two corners together to make a cone and staple the sides together to create your tree.
  4. To create the snow-capped trees, use your white construction paper and mimic the template created for your tree with the green paper. Staple only the top of the cone together together and rip off the remaining paper.
  5. Put smaller white cone at the top of your green tree.
  6. Add your snowflake stickers all around your tree.

Merry and bright holiday candles
  1. Simply and carefully stick the thumbtacks into your unlit candle in a unique pattern. If needed, use a pencil to lightly mark up your pattern on the candle before you get started to ensure the pattern is evenly spaced.
Supplies

Snowflake frame
  1. Glue the tips of 6 sticks to the outer edges of 1 circle. Press firmly on the circle to insure the sticks dry properly.
  2. From there, build out the rest of your snowflake shape with the remaining sticks. Use the circles to cover where the sticks are glue together.
  3. Use the silver spray paint to spray each side of the snowflake. Please make sure to be in a properly ventilated area and on a protected surface.
  4. Add holiday wrapping paper to the back of the snowflake to finish your frame!
