Pricey but long life

I purchased this printer (Brother 4040CDN) when my daughter was getting married. We printed all the Wedding and pre-wedding party stationary with outstanding results. The original cartridges lasted well past the party planning. Nearly 18 months... The only disappointment was when I went to replace the cartridges... Had to replace 3 of the 4 at the same time... [$] EACH. I only paid [$] for the printer. The Black cartridge lasted a bit longer than the colored cartridges. I guess when you do the math even though it is costly to replace the cartridges... The printing quality and the life of the cartridges it is a good value.

Until it was brought to our attention by the service technician that our warranty would be void if we did not use the Brother brand of cartridge, we would use a recycled product that we could get for a fraction of the cost! I wish I could say that there is a define difference between the two products, but sadly, the only difference is the price. On a positive note, when I order on line from Staples, I always gave my product the next day.
