I usually have to replace the cartridges in my BROTHER color printed about every 2500 pages. I didn't realize that I go through them soo fast. I only use it for color documents for client presentations. NO PICTURES or heavy GRAPHICS...just simple excel sheets and "pie charts".
I will have to pay attention to "page output" on my next printer, but the printer and the ink are great and their durability aregreat. I might need something "stronger" or larger cartidge next time.

As it seems with all the major printer manufacturers these days, the cost of their toner is designed as a perpetual revenue stream, and there doesn't seem to be enough competitive spirit anymore to drive price competition to drive toner costs down. And, the cartridges don't last long. So, among a crop of such choices, the Brother toner is better than, say, HP, with a printer that has been reasonably reliable. But, even with bonus points, sale prices, and gift cards, it's not exactly a bargain, especially when you need several toner colors to print at one time. A set of toner costs more than the printer. And, to print in color, aside from maintenance fees and the like, it's over $0.25 per page when I own the machine. So, it's nice to find this priced in the same ballpark as others, and not more, but pricing isn't much of a value, and my local Staples store just tried to add $10 to store price on each in the last few weeks to add insult to injury. I may need the product, but am just not favorably impressed here....
