First One Defective-Had to make 2nd trip

When you buy a new product you expect it to be good. When I returned to the office and opened the carton, I sensed something was wrong when my hands were full of ink. I installed the cartridge and my machine still indicated toner problems, I re-installed multiple times and still the same problem. I then contact the Brother support line, they had me go through many gyrations, and still non functioning. I then had to go back to Staples to exchnage the defectrive one, and all this wasted time and efort was at MY EXPENSE, and no one from Staples or Brother offered any kind of compensation.

the brother HL 5140 has served me well for many years and its cost per page is decent. as for cartridges, i've used the [...] or other office store brands, which are about 20 dollars cheaper, with no problems for years. i was surprised staples did not carry a store branded, cheaper toner cartridge since this costs [$].
