Rating ink is like rating motor oil, except you're limited to one brand. As with most ink jets, the single biggest expense is the ink. Canon seems a little pricier than some of the other printers I've had, but it's by far the best, easiest to use, and most durable printer. I use it to print photos and do color highlights on documents printed on my laser printer.

I got the printer {Canon PIXMA iP6210D} to use with a new laptop but it's really best for color pictures only. It uses two color cartridges and this one is needed to produce black text. The printer doesn't even produce satisfactory B&W prints, so, I ended up getting an HP laser for my text uses. This cartridge will still be used with the Canon for the few pictures I print.
