I prefer to use ink cartridges made by the printer manufacturer. My CANON Pixma MP 530 Muti-Purpose printer has worked flawlessly while I have used CANON ink cartridges. That being said, I find them very expensive. I have found ways to continue using them after the printer recommends replacement. I also use black only, fast print settings to conserve ink.

Hate to have to pay full price for the Canon inks in my Canon MX-850 multi-function printer, but I've had problems with non-Canon substitutes for this printer ... even the Staples brand. So, it's brand buying for me.
