There was no other color in it whatsover. Many of the other cartridges are unable to meet this standard. For instance, the red cartridge is not at all black--it is simply red. But this black cartridge doesn't have that problem. One would be hard pressed to call it anything but "black". I printed out a sample, scanned it in and then included it with this review. I think you will agree that the results are definitely black.
