Q: Regardless of whether it's a "thin" or "thick" black, it appears from the PRINTER specs (PIXMA MP990), these cartridges are incompatible with the Cannon printer. In fact, if you use the Ink & Toner finder, the results are the same: NO toner cartridges for this printer! I don't think I would buy a printer unless I'm sure of the cost of the toners (where they make their money$$$). Any clues ?? Asked on 11/16/2009 by Susie from Indiana Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: Canon now uses region and model encoding chips for their ink tanks. Have to use the ink tank specified for the printer. If not, the tank won't work. Canon's website for the Pixma MP990 shows this for ink tanks: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=2610&modelid=19219#SNAModelSuppliesAct CLI-221 series for the colors and PGI-220 for the large black tank. Q: What's the difference between this PGI-220 black in cartridge and the CL1-221 black ink cartridge? Asked on 8/10/2009 by Bob from Scottsdale Know the answer? Answer this question 5 answers A: The PGI-220 is a large capacity cartridge and the CLI-221 is the smaller capacity one. They work together for example on the mp620 printer. The 220 would be drawn from for printing such as if you were to print internet coupons and the 221 is for mix to help create your other colors for printing.Price wise they are about the same price. Answered on 9/13/2009 by colt from port orange, florida A: The PGI-220 uses black ink for printing documents, etc. The Blk CL1-221 uses black ink for photos in addition to tonal values or mixtures in creating color variations.
