Based on art reviews and you tube, I bought these oil pastels for my visual art journaling. The oil crayons are very versatile. Several crayons can be combined on the paper. Then they can be blended with a finger, a baby wipe, cloth, or paint brush. The crayons can be left this way and they look like bright colored pencils. Water can also be added and brushed on the paper to resemble vivid watercolors. I have put down several colors in the same space. I then scratch designs into the colors. The layer underneath shows through and I get a great texture appearance. I love the vivid colors and they are fun to use. Great product!

Generally I dislike both chalk pastels and oil pastels because they are very messy, but was intrigued by the fact that these were water soluble. I really like them, and will eventually buy the larger box with more colors. I am a mixed media artist and am always looking for new products to incorporate into my work. These work well as a crayon working dry on wet directly on paper, and I've also used them with a brush, pulling the pigment from the stick before applying to the paper. These water soluble oil pastels will be a part of my water media collection.
